Spire Motorsports Releases Statement On Kyle Busch's Hospitalization

The NASCAR world was given some rather distressing news this morning when Kyle Busch's family announced that he's dealing with a "severe illness" that sent him to the hospital. Racing fans have poured their heart and soul into sending him well-wishes and his motorsports partners are sending him the best too.

On Thursday, Spire Motorsports, who Busch drives for in the Truck Series, offered their well wishes to Busch and thanked him for all he's done for the team through the years. The team announced that Corey Day, fresh off a win at Dover in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, will be stepping into Busch's No. 7 car in Charlotte this week.

"Kyle Busch is an important piece of Spire Motorsports' NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series family and we wish him all the best in his recovery. We are incredibly thankful to have Corey Day step in to drive the No. 7 HendrickCars.com Patriotic Chevrolet for Friday's Truck Series race at Charlotte and look forward to seeing everyone at the track this weekend," the Spire Motorsports team said in a statement.

Busch in 2026

Busch has been driving trucks for Spire Motorsports since 2024, winning five races and finishing in the top-five another three times in just 14 appearances on tracks for them.

Less than a week ago he delivered that fifth win for Spire at Dover, dominating the track by winning the pole position, leading the most laps, posting the fastest lap and reaching the checkered flag first.

In the Cup Series, Busch was actually putting together some of his best performances of the season, reeling off top-20 finishes in three straight races for the first time since the end of last season. His eighth-place run at Watkins Glen was his best run for Richard Childress Racing all year.

But Busch's racing career is obviously way down on the totem pole of importance as he battles his illness.

We all wish Busch the best as recovers.
