Devin Vassell Sends Bold Message Before Spurs Return to OKC
The San Antonio Spurs tied the Western Conference Finals at 2-2 with a dominant home victory over the reigning NBA-champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.
The Spurs stopped a two-game losing streak, notching a 103-82 final score in Game 4 at the Frost Bank Center. Now, the San Antonio squad will travel back to Oklahoma City for a critical Game 5 matchup at Paycom Center.
The Spurs have one of the youngest rosters in the NBA with an average age of just over 25 years old. Most of their starting five, headlined by 22-year-old superstar Victor Wembanyama, are in the midst of their first playoff appearance.
Point guard De’Aaron Fox is the only member of the Spurs’ starting five with any postseason experience, losing one series with the Sacramento Kings in 2023.
Devin Vassell sent a clear message about the Spurs’ lack of playoff experience after Sunday night’s Game 4 win.
“Experience does not matter. We’re here, we’ve had all the experience we’ve needed this regular season, and we’re going to keep proving everybody wrong,” Vassell said. “Whatever they got to say, it really don’t matter. We’re here now, and we’ll see you in OKC.”

Vassell scored 13 points in Game 4, as did second-year guard Stephon Castle. Wembanyama led the way for the Spurs with a game-high 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and three blocks.
