Latta baseball delivers in clutch for first state championship in 8 years
LATTA, S.C. − Latta's Vikings piled on top of each other, celebrating their first state championship in eight years while coach Robbie Brown's hands pointed to the sky.
This was for the players. But this was also for the program's late coach, Don Cribb, who coached the Vikings to their two previous state championships (2015, '18).
"It's special, super special for me," Brown said. "I played against (Cribb) when I was at Dillon and he was coach at Marion. He was just a phenomenal man, and we just recently dedicated our batting facility for him on our campus recently with his family there.
"I know I'll never be Don Cribb. But hopefully, I can leave a lasting impact like he did," he added.
