NRFI, YRFI MLB Bets Today: Best First Inning Predictions for Friday, June 5
We're back to a full slate of 15 games Friday. There are both NRFI and YRFI matchups we like entering the weekend.
Toronto Blue Jays stud RHP Trey Yesavage came up late last season and dominated in the 2025 playoffs. His season was off to a rough start with an IL stint, but he's back to dominating. We like the NRFI against the Baltimore Orioles as well as betting the NRFI in the New York Mets-San Diego Padres matchup. Our attention heads to Coors Field to target our lone YRFI Friday.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays NRFI (-110)
RHP Brandon Young makes his ninth start, and he's 3-1 with a 3.35 ERA on the season. His first-inning ERA is a little inflated at 5.62, but he hasn't allowed an earned run in the first in his last four starts. He faces 2025 postseason hero RHP Trey Yesavage, who is making his eighth start. He's 2-2 with a 2.19 ERA on the season after starting the year on the IL. He has been great in the first with a 2.57 ERA and eight K's in seven frames.
Milwaukee Brewers at Colorado Rockies YRFI (-125)
The Brew Crew heads into Coors Field after cashing us a YRFI and giving up 11 runs Thursday. Brewers RHP Brandon Sproat and Rockies RHP Ryan Feltner don't exactly strike fear into opposing hitters. Sproat, who has a 6.24 ERA overall, has a 6.00 ERA in the first inning. Feltner has a 4.85 ERA overall, and he has a 4.50 ERA in the first. Coors Field also is one of the best hitters' parks in the bigs.
New York Mets at San Diego Padres NRFI (-130)
The Mets toss RHP Christian Scott out there, and he's 1-0 with a 2.97 ERA on the season. His 6.43 ERA in the first is a little rough, but he hasn't been scored on in the first inning in his last three starts. On the other side, we have NRFI darling RHP Michael King. He's 11-for-12 on his side of the NRFI, allowing just one earned run in his 12 starts.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
