Panthers owner Jerry Richardson woos young letter-writing fan
Cade Pope, a 12-year-old from Yukon, Oklahoma, had a quest: Finding an NFL team to follow and cheer.
So Pope, a 6th grader, two weeks ago wrote letters to all 32 teams in the National Football League. He got only one response, from Jerry Richardson, owner of the Carolina Panthers, the told KOTV in Tulsa.
Richardson went all out to woo the young fan, sending a package that included a replica team helmet - signed by linebacker Luke Kuechly - and a handwritten letter.
“Cade we would be honored if our Carolina Panthers became your team, we would make you proud by the classy way we would represent you,” Richardson wrote.
