Charlotte FC returns home against Columbus Crew: How to watch, stream, betting odds
The last time Charlotte FC played on its home field, the team stunned Premier League club Chelsea with a win in penalty kicks — delivering a mighty jolt of cultural relevance and revealing what this franchise could one day be.
This weekend is important, too.
FC is set to round out its July schedule with a regular season match against Columbus Crew on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Bank of America Stadium. The game will mark the first of a crucial three-game homestand for a team that, for the moment, is on the outside looking in on the MLS Eastern Conference playoff picture.
Charlotte (8-12-2) has 26 playoff points and sits at No. 9 in the conference standings. Columbus (7-5-9) has 30 points and sits at No. 5 in the conference standings. The top-seven teams make the playoffs, which begin in October.
The good news for fans in the Queen City is that their team has played well at home (7-3 at BofA).
The not-so-good news? Columbus enters Saturday’s match without a loss in its past nine matches, the longest streak of its kind in MLS.
The two teams squared off in Ohio in June. It ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks to an equalizing goal from Andre Shinyashiki in the 50th minute.
Here’s how you can watch, stream and listen to Saturday’s match.
