Charlotte FC fans will see one of their own play on the biggest stage of all.

Karol Swiderski, the striker and attacking midfielder whose creativity boosted Charlotte FC to a late-season charge for the playoffs in its inaugural season, was called up to the Poland National Team on Thursday.

He will be a forward, playing alongside Poland’s masterful Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik, Dawid Kownacki and Krzysztof Piatek.

Swiderski has 17 caps and eight goals for his national team, including five goals during World Cup qualifying matches.

His most recent national event with Poland’s team came in the UEFA Nations League in September, when he scored the game’s only goal against Wales en route to an important Polish victory.

Poland is in Group C of the World Cup alongside Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Argentina. Here’s when and how you’ll be able to watch him in action:

  • Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. ET – Poland vs. Mexico – FOX (English) and Telemundo (Spanish)
  • Nov. 26 at 8 a.m. ET – Poland vs. Saudi Arabia – FS1 (English) and Telemundo (Spanish)
  • Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. ET – Poland vs. Argentina – FOX (English) and Universo (Spanish)

Swiderski occupies a designated player roster spot for Charlotte FC. He told local media toward the end of the 2022 season that he intends on returning to Charlotte next season and that he enjoys playing under Christian Lattanzio, who was officially named the team’s second head coach in October.
