▪ Charlotte Hornets point guard Mo Williams was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. That was about both his statistics over the span (averages of 19.5 points and 10.8 assists) and the team going 4-0 in that stretch. This was the third player of the week award for Williams.

▪ Time Warner Cable Arena and the grounds surrounding the building will go smokeless March 18 under a city ordinance. Wonder who’ll tell team owner Michael Jordan his cigars will be banned from the office?

▪ The Hornets won’t practice Tuesday (they never do after back-to-back games) but a few non-rotation players will come in for some contact drills with point guard Kemba Walker, who is close to returning from left knee surgery. Walker could be back for Wednesday’s home game against the Sacramento Kings or Friday against the Chicago Bulls.
