Hornets’ Brian Roberts’ 3-point shooting percentage falls
Brian Roberts
Position: Point guard, shooting guard
Contract status: He’s under contract for next season at about $2.8 million.
Seasons in the NBA: Third
Telling statistic: Roberts’ 3-point percentage has dropped each of his three NBA seasons, from 38 percent as a rookie to 36 percent last season in New Orleans to 32 percent this season.
Season review: Roberts was brought in to be Kemba Walker’s backup at the point. He was OK in that role, but at times looked a little overwhelmed when filling in as a starter when Walker had knee surgery. The Hornets traded for Mo Williams, which made Roberts a reserve again. After Walker returned to the active roster, Roberts sat out six consecutive games. He had a strong game against the Houston Rockets in the Hornets’ last home date, scoring 23 points and hitting five 3-pointers. Roberts was what he was billed: An inexpensive backup at a key position who can make some 3s.
