Terry Rozier is still being investigated as part of an illegal gambling probe as officials continue to look into whether he purposefully manipulated his performance during a game while a member of the Charlotte Hornets.

Federal investigators are combing over the details of what happened during the Hornets’ 115-96 loss in New Orleans on March 23, 2023, when Rozier exited the game with a foot injury in the first half and didn’t return.

According to an ESPN report, some unusual wagering activity brought the game under scrutiny, noting “a professional bettor placed 30 wagers in 46 minutes, all involving Terry Rozier in a 2023 NBA game.”

The report, which cites documents ESPN obtained through an open records request, states “a bettor at a sportsbook in Biloxi, Mississippi, placed $13,759 in bets on the unders on Rozier’s statistics in a game that night between the Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans.”

All 30 bets won, the report says. Rozier scored five points and didn’t return after leaving with the injury 10 minutes into the game, failing to play again in any of the Hornets’ final eight matchups of the 2022-23 regular season.

Rozier is not accused of any wrongdoing and hasn’t been charged with a crime. The NBA conducted its investigation already and concluded no violation of NBA rules occurred. At that time, the Hornets deferred comment to the NBA.

The veteran guard was traded to Miami in 2024 for Kyle Lowry and a 2027 first-round draft pick after averaging 20 points, 4.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds in four-plus seasons. He came to Charlotte in 2019 in a sign-and-trade for Kemba Walker.
