Charlotte Hornets’ Jeremy Lin: Security wouldn’t let me into arena

New Charlotte Hornets guard Jeremy Lin said Saturday via Twitter that he was turned away from working out at Time Warner Cable Arena because a security guard refused to believe he could be an NBA player.

Lin’s tweet read, “Went to the Hornets arena for the 1st time and tried convincing security im (sic) a player. She said, “what team?!?” loll..”

Lin then commented, “#everywhereigo #literally”

A Hornets spokesman declined comment.

Lin is a 6-foot-3 guard of Asian-American descent who signed with the Hornets as a free agent over the summer. He’s well known in NBA circles, having set off what was known as “Lin-sanity” during his brief but spectacular stint as a New York Knicks point guard.

Since then he has played with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers. He’s expected to play some point guard and shooting guard for the Hornets this season as a complement to Kemba Walker.

Lin played college ball at Harvard and was not selected in the NBA draft. He’s scheduled to make just over $2 million this season with the Hornets.
