The Charlotte Hornets will bring at least 18 players to training camp starting Sept. 26 at Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Hornets announced the signings of forward Sam Thompson (Ohio State) and center Jason Washburn (Utah) Tuesday. Add those two players to guards Aaron Harrison and Elliot Williams, who have partial guarantees, and the Hornets’ roster reaches 18.

Washburn, a 7-footer, has played professionally overseas the past two seasons. Thompson, 6-7, went unselected in the 2015 NBA draft.

The Hornets enter training camp with 14 guaranteed contracts (including first-round pick Frank Kaminsky) for a maximum 15 regular-season roster spots.

The Hornets start training camp a few days earlier than usual this fall because they will be in China for a week of the preseason, playing two exhibitions against the Los Angeles Clippers in Shenzhen and Shanghai.

Partially due to the China trip, the team elected to hold training camp in Charlotte rather than travel to Asheville, as they have the previous two preseasons.
