Matchup to Watch

Al Jefferson vs. Al Horford: Two of the better scoring big men in the East. Jefferson is more of a back-to-the-basket player, while Horford has a solid outside jump shot

Observations

▪  This is the second game on back-to-back nights for the Hawks, who played at the New York Knicks on national television Thursday night.

▪  The Hornets are coming off a brutal second quarter in Miami in which they were outscored 31-17. They made the game close in the fourth quarter with a small lineup that included power forwards Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller.

Tap-ins

▪  The Hornets might get back Jeremy Lamb for this game. He has been out for nearly two weeks with a sprained right ankle.

▪  These two teams play again Sunday in the Hornets’ home opener this season (2 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena).

Did you know?

The Hawks were the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs last season, for the first time since the 1993-94 season, which also was their last division championship.
