Matchup to watch
Carmelo Anthony vs. P.J. Hairston/Nic Batum: It’s unlikely any one Hornets wing player will be asked to guard Anthony throughout this game. Marvin Williams might also take a turn against one of the NBA’s top scorers.
Observations
▪ Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis was the first major draft pick of the Phil Jackson regime. So far the Latvian power forward looks quite good. He’s very long with perimeter skills.
▪ The Knicks signed two solid free agents in center Robin Lopez and shooting guard Arron Afflalo. Afflalo has been out with a hamstring injury.
Tap-ins
▪ This is the first set of back-to-back games for the Hornets this season. They played the Timberwolves in Minneapolis Tuesday night. The Knicks also played Tuesday at Toronto.
▪ The Hornets are on a three-game winning streak against the Knicks, having won the last three of four meetings last season.
Did you know?
Anthony’s 62 points in January 2014 was the highest scoring total for an opponent of any Charlotte NBA team.
