Matchup to Watch
Al Jefferson vs. Brook Lopez: The Nets in general don’t have a lot of talent this season, but Lopez is posting All-Star-type statistics. Jefferson shook off a recent slump to score 29 Sunday vs. the Portland Trail Blazers.
Observations
▪ This is the first of seven consecutive home games for the Hornets.
▪ P.J. Hairston (quad contusion) likely will miss his second consecutive game. In Hairston’s absence, coach Steve Clifford started Cody Zeller at power forward and moved Marvin Williams to small forward Tuesday vs. the Knicks.
Tap-ins
▪ Jarrett Jack had a spectacular game against the Golden State Warriors with 28 points, four rebounds and nine assists. But the Nets still lost in overtime.
▪ The Hornets have struggled as rebounders of late and that’s one of the few things the Nets have done well. They scored 33 second-chance points against the Houston Rockets.
Did you know?
Nets guard-forward Joe Johnson entered Tuesday’s home game against the Atlanta Hawks with the NBA’s longest active streak of games with at least one basket scored (894).
