Matchup to Watch
Anthony Davis vs. Marvin Williams: Davis is perhaps the NBA’s most dynamic all-around power forward. Williams will need some help containing him, particularly in a game in New Orleans.
Observations
▪ The Pelicans hired Alvin Gentry, who grew up in Shelby and played for Appalachian State, as their head coach last spring. He had previously been lead assistant with the NBA champion Golden State Warriors.
▪ The Hornets broke a seven-game losing streak Wednesday with a home blowout of the Atlanta Hawks. Hornets owner Michael Jordan addressed the team at practice Tuesday.
Tap-ins
▪ Charlotte’s Jeremy Lamb had to leave Wednesday’s victory over the Atlanta Hawks with a strained right big toe. The Hornets list Lamb as questionable for this game.
▪ The Pelicans won in Sacramento Wednesday to break a four-game losing streak. They have lost six of their last eight games.
Did you know?
Gentry is a first cousin of former N.C. State great David Thompson.
