Matchup to Watch
Anthony Davis vs. Marvin Williams: Hornets coach Steve Clifford calls Williams an exceptional individual and team defender. Davis is probably the toughest cover in the league at power forward.
Observations
▪ This Hornets homestand is full of Western Conference opponents – Minnesota, New Orleans, Houston and Dallas (along with Detroit) – within an eight-day span.
▪ With the Pelicans slipping out of playoff contention, coach Alvin Gentry, who grew up in Shelby, has indicated it might be time to start playing younger players to explore the future.
Tap-ins
▪ The Pelicans lost guard Eric Gordon, who refractured a finger Saturday vs. the Utah Jazz.
▪ The Pelicans listed five players as out for Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
Did you know?
Every player from that 2001-02 Hornets team that moved to New Orleans is out of the NBA. But that could change, with Baron Davis in the NBA Development League in Delaware, attempting an NBA comeback.
