Charlotte 49ers sign one forward, expect to add two more recruits Thursday
The Charlotte 49ers signed Dravon Mangum, a 6-foot-8 forward from Roxboro Person High, on Wednesday, the first day of the week-long early national signing period. The 49ers expect to announce the signings for two more players – point guard Cooper Robb and forward Isaiah Bigelow – Thursday.
Mangum reportedly also had interest from East Carolina, Winthrop, Coppin State and Appachian State.
Robb is 6-2 and averaged 14.9 points and five rebounds last season for Scott County (Ky.) High. Bigelow (6-6) averaged 12 points, 5.5 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals for Greensboro Smith last season. He also had offers from Chattanooga, N.C. A&T, North Florida, Norfolk State, Radford and Western Carolina.
▪ The 49ers announced Wednesday they have signed an athletics department-wide deal with Nike. The company will provide footwear, apparel and accessories for all 49ers teams. Previously, the 49ers had sport-by-sport deals with different apparel companies, although many of them already were with Nike. This, however, is a blanket deal.
