College basketball: Thursday’s area games to watch

THURSDAY’S MATCHUPS

PRESBYTERIAN (1-1) at N.C. STATE (3-0)

PNC Arena, Raleigh, 7 p.m.

Former Northside Christian standout Davon Bell leads the Blue Hose, averaging 21.6 points a game. Another Charlottean, Torin Dorn, leads N.C. State in scoring (18.7 points a game) and had 26 Tuesday against Bryant.

CLEMSON (2-0) vs. OHIO (1-0)

TD Arena, Charleston, 5 p.m., ESPN2

Donte Grantham and Gabe DeVoe each had double-doubles in Clemson’s last game, an 87-63 win against N.C. A&T. ...Freshman guard Teyvion Kirk led the Bobcats with 16 points in their opener. This is a first-round contest in the Gildan Charleston Classic.

SOUTH CAROLINA (2-0) vs. ILLINOIS STATE (0-1)

HTC Center, Conway, S.C., 11:30 a.m., ESPN2

The Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic was moved to Conway this year because of hurricane damage. In this first-round game, the Gamecocks will face a team with a superb 3-point shooting threat – Keyshawn Evans, who made seven 3-pointers in the Redbirds’ opener.
