College basketball: Monday’s regional games to watch

No. 15 NORTH CAROLINA (16-4, 5-2 ACC) at VIRGINIA TECH (8-10, 1-5)

Cassell Coliseum, Blacksburg, Va., 7 p.m., ESPN

The teams are similar statistically on offense, with the Tar Heels averaging 83.7 points a game and the Hokies scoring 85.6. UNC’s Luke Maye (17.5) and Joel Berry II (17.1) rank fifth and sixth in ACC scoring. The Hokies’ Ahmed Hill leads the league in 3-point shooting accuracy (47.3 percent).

APPALACHIAN STATE (8-12, 3-4 Sun Belt) at TROY (8-11, 2-4)

Trojan Arena, Troy, Ala., 8:15 p.m.

Wesley Person Jr., son of the former NBA standout, leads the Trojans and is third in the Sun Belt in scoring (19.4 points a game). But the Mountaineers’ Ronshad Shabazz is right behind, at 18.9 points a contest. This game was postponed from Thursday due to the Southern snowstorm.
