Saturday’s area college football games to watch
GEORGIA SOUTHERN (2-0) at No. 2 CLEMSON (2-0)
Memorial Stadium, Clemson, S.C., noon, ESPNU
Clemson fans looking for some improvement from a Tigers secondary that was shaky last week against Texas A&M are out of luck. Georgia Southern runs an option offense and doesn’t throw much. Quarterback Shai Werts, a former Newberry (S.C.) High standout, averages 122 rushing yards a game.
DUKE (2-0) at BAYLOR (2-0)
McLane Stadium, Waco, Texas, 3:30 p.m. FS1
Baylor’s offense had a tough time against Texas-San Antonio last week, and now it faces a Duke defense that is holding opponents to a 3.3-yard rushing average. The big question is how quarterback Quentin Harris will fare for Duke, as he replaces injured Daniel Jones of Charlotte.
