Davidson’s Kellan Grady grabs preseason honor; Wildcats picked 3rd
Davidson sophomore guard Kellan Grady has been named to the Atlantic 10’s preseason all-conference first team and the Wildcats are picked to finish third by the league’s coaches and media.
Wildcats junior guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson was named third team preseason all-conference and also made the league’s all-defensive preseason team.
Grady averaged 18.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists and was named the A-10’s rookie of the year for the 2017-18 season. He’s joined on the first team by Dayton forward Josh Cunningham, George Mason forward Otis Livingston, Massachusetts guard Luwane Pipkins and Richmond forward Grant Golden.
Gudmundsson average 13.2 points, six rebounds and 5.1 assists last season. He also averaged 1.3 steals per game.
Saint Louis and Saint Joseph’s were picked to finish ahead of Davidson, which won the A-10’s conference tournament last season. The Wildcats return three starters from that team that finished 21-12.
The Wildcats play their Red-Black scrimmage Saturday at 2 p.m. at Belk Gym. After an exhibition Nov. 1 against Washington & Lee, Davidson opens its season Nov. 6 at home against Cleveland State.
