Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen, who had an SEC-leading14 sacks this season, was named the winner of the Charlotte Touchdown Club's Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation's top defensive player Monday night at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Allen, 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, won the award over other finalists Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, Louisiana State safety Grant Delpit, Clemson tackle Christian Wilkins and Alabama nose guard Quinnen Williams.

Allen's 14 sacks were a single-season record at Kentucky and led the SEC. He also led the SEC with 18.5 tackles for loss and forced five fumbles.
