Cornerback Marquill Osborne transferring from Tennessee to Charlotte 49ers

Cornerback Marquill Osborne, a former Hough High star who started his college football career at Tennessee, is transferring to Charlotte.

Osborne tweeted the news on Twitter on Friday.

Osborne, who announced Dec. 7 he was leaving Tennessee, played in 10 games as a junior last season and intercepted two passes against Kentucky. He has one season of eligibility remaining..

New 49ers coach Will Healy has hired his first two assistants. Mark Carney, offensive coordinator at Virginia State, will be the 49ers’ quarterbacks coach. Brandon Cooper, who was Healy’s defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Austin Peay, will be co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the 49ers. Both coaches changed their Twitter bios to reflect their new jobs.

Carney has coached at Richmond, Bowling Green and Baldwin-Wallace before going to the CIAA’s Virginia State. He was quarterbacks coach at Richmond during Healy’s time as a quarterback with the Spiders. Cooper has also coached at Tennessee-Martin, Jacksonville State, Chattanooga and Murray State.
