Carolinas hoops: Tuesday’s regional college basketball games
TUESDAY’S COLLEGE GAMEDAY
DUKE (21-2, 9-1 ACC) at LOUISVILLE (17-7, 8-3)
KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, 9 p.m., ESPN
This is where we find out how the young Blue Devils handle prosperity. Coming off the big road victory over Virginia, Duke faces a Louisville team that ranked among the ACC’s top defenses – especially at steals and breaking up passes – until the past two weeks. Louisville has surrendered an average of more than 1 point per possession in its past three games. Duke ranks fifth nationally in that category, allowing an average of 0.862 per possession.
DAVIDSON (17-6, 8-2 Atlantic 10) at FORDHAM (10-13, 1-9)
Rose Hill Gymnasium, Bronx, N.Y., 7 p.m.
Davidson is coming off the kind of loss Saturday at Massachusetts that can damage a team’s NCAA tournament resume. Fordham presents a similar danger, as the Rams are an efficient 3-point shooting team, ranking second only to Davidson in that department in the A-10. Davidson’s Luke Frampton is the league’s top 3-point shooter, but Fordham’s Antwon Portley and Nick Honor rank second and fourth.
