Davidson is ranked in the AP Top 25 college basketball poll for first time since 2015
Davidson College is finally receiving national recognition.
Riding a 15-game winning streak that includes a victory over No. 10 Alabama last month, the Wildcats entered the AP Top 25 college basketball poll on Monday, coming in at No. 25
This is the first time Davidson has been ranked since March 2015 (No. 18) and only the second time it has been in the AP poll in the last 52 years without Stephen Curry on the roster.
The Wildcats were ranked for the final three weeks of the 2007-08 poll, peaking at No. 23, and spent the first six weeks of the following season in the Top 25, with their highest mark being No. 20 in the preseason poll.
Davidson’s all-time highest ranking was No. 2 on Dec. 30, 1968.
Davidson (16-2), picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, has opened conference play 6-0, including Saturday’s 66-63 win at Fordham and a 63-61 victory at VCU last Tuesday.
Coach Bob McKillop’s team continues A-10 play at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday against VCU (11-6, 4-2); the game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
