Gamecocks football adds another offensive weapon, pulls in son of coach Greg Adkins

South Carolina football has added another offensive piece through transfer portal, and he’s a familiar face.

Tight end Nate Adkins — the son of USC offensive line coach Greg Adkins — announced his commitment to the Gamecocks on Tuesday afternoon on his Twitter account. He is the ninth transfer in South Carolina’s 2022 class.

A junior from East Tennessee State, Adkins caught 33 passes for 357 yards last season, scoring a touchdown. He’s caught 73 passes for 749 yards in his career. He’s the second major addition to the tight end room for the Gamecocks, who also added Oklahoma transfer Austin Stogner to pair with quarterback Spencer Rattler.

Adkins hails from Knoxville, Tennessee, where he starred at Bearden High School. His father Greg Adkins is in his second year on Shane Beamer’s coaching staff coaching offensive lineman.
