Clemson already has hire lined up to be new offensive coordinator, reports say
Garrett Riley was part of TCU’s run to the national championship game. Now, the Horned Frogs’ offensive coordinator is set to join Clemson’s staff as offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.
Riley will replace Brandon Streeter, who was fired Thursday after one season as the Tigers’ coordinator.
Clemson has a board of trustees meeting called for 4:05 p.m. Friday with “Football Assistant Coach Contract” on the docket.
Riley, the brother of Southern California coach Lincoln Riley, was at TCU for one season but is regarded as one of top offensive minds in college football.
Riley won the Broyles award this season, given to the nation’s top assistant coach. He was offensive coordinator for two seasons at SMU, and his offenses ranked in top 15 in 2020 and 2021.
TCU was ninth in points per game and 27th in total yards per game for 2022. TCU quarterback Max Duggan was a Heisman Trophy finalist.
The 33-year-old Riley also has been an assistant at Appalachian State, Kansas and East Carolina.
