N.C State quarterback MJ Morris has opted to redshirt the rest of the season and preserve a year of eligibility, according to various media reports.

MJ Morris’ father, Eddie Morris, denied claims his son is leaving the program.

“No one said he is leaving the program,” Eddie Morris told WRAL. “Nobody said he is leaving the program. If he would have left the program, he would have left in January and he would have left in May. He had plenty of options.”

With the Wolfpack preparing to play at Wake Forest on Saturday, MJ Morris attended practice on Tuesday.

He started half of the 2022 season after an injury ended Devin Leary’s Wolfpack career. This season, after originally planning to redshirt and not play in games, he was moved into the starting quarterback role at the beginning of October to replace graduate transfer Brennan Armstrong.
