South Carolina football to play 2024 spring game at night
South Carolina’s annual Garnet & Black Spring Game will be played under the lights at Williams-Brice Stadium for the third-straight season.
The school on Wednesday announced that the 2024 spring game will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m. Admission will be free for all fans. No TV or streaming details were announced, but last year’s spring game was aired on SEC Network Plus.
The game will again be the main attraction on “Big Gamecock Weekend,” which includes home baseball, beach volleyball and track-and-field matches.
In addition to those sporting events, the Cocky Trot 5K will begin at 8 a.m. April 20, and the Junior Gamecock Movie Night the next evening on the Williams-Brice field. This year’s showing will be “Wonka.”
South Carolina football will begin its spring practices about a month earlier on Tuesday, March 19.
Coming off a 5-7 season, USC will try and get back to a bowl game, but will do so without the services of NFL-bound quarterback Spencer Rattler.
The Gamecocks will have a new quarterback — likely either redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers or Auburn transfer Robby Ashford — and a bevy of other fresh faces.
South Carolina lost 21 players to the transfer portal and added 20, hoping the changes result in a better record next season.
