Kickoff time, TV channel set for Clemson vs. Virginia Tech football game
The ACC has announced a kickoff time and TV channel for Clemson football’s road trip to Virginia Tech next weekend.
The No. 11 Tigers and Hokies will kick off at 3:30 pm next Saturday, Nov. 9 from Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia, the conference announced overnight this Saturday.
ESPN will broadcast the game.
This was the second week in a row the ACC exercised a six-day hold on the kickoff time and TV channel for a forthcoming Clemson game and didn’t determine those details until the completion of all conference games through the weekend.
No. 11 Clemson lost in shocking fashion on Saturday night, falling 33-21 to unranked Louisville. The loss made Clemson 6-2 and 5-1 in the ACC.
Virginia Tech dropped to 5-4 (3-2 ACC) earlier on Saturday. The Hokies lost 38-31 in overtime to Syracuse on the road in a game in which starting quarterback Kyron Drones was a late scratch. VT led 21-3 in the third quarter before blowing its lead.
This will be Clemson’s first trip to Virginia Tech since the 2020 season and its first non-pandemic trip to Lane Stadium (capacity 65,632) since 2017.
Virginia Tech is known for having one of the best home atmospheres in college football, starting with its classic “Enter Sandman” entrance, but couldn’t totally foster that sellout environment during Clemson’s 2020 visit because of COVID-19.
The Tigers are 23-12-1 all time against the Hokies and have won six straight games in the series dating back to 2011. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is 6-0 all-time against Virginia Tech, including wins in the 2011 and 2015 ACC championship games.
Clemson is also 8-2 all-time at VT’s Lane Stadium since it opened in 1965 and has won its last three games in the venue by an average of 23 points per game.
