This past decade might best be described — generously — as forgettable for the Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball program.

The 2010s began with the 49ers already having played in 11 NCAA tournaments, a number they’re still sitting on. Coach Bobby Lutz — who took Charlotte to five of those tournaments — was fired after the 2009-10 season. Ron Sanchez, the 49ers’ fourth coach since Lutz was dismissed, is in his second season of trying to get things turned around.

Over that span, the 49ers had two winning seasons and played in one postseason game (a first-round loss in the National Invitation Tournament in 2013). The 49ers haven’t even qualified for the Conference USA tournament over the past two seasons.

That doesn’t mean there weren’t some highlights: Charlotte won a few regular-season tournaments (Puerto Rico, Alaska) and pulled some upsets (Tennessee in Spectrum Center in 2010, Michigan in Puerto Rico in 2013). The 49ers won a record 11 consecutive games at Halton Arena and went 21-12 in 2012-13.

And there were some unforgettable players — and that’s meant in a good way. Here’s Charlotte’s All-Decade Team:

PIERRIA HENRY, 2011-15, G

A rough-and-ready defensive specialist who anchored former coach Alan Major’s early-decade teams, Henry started 119 games (tied for most in program history with Jobey Thomas). Henry is Charlotte’s career steals (296) and assists (566) leader. He ended up scoring 1,238 points, which is 19th on the 49ers’ all-time list.

Henry was a defensive terror all over the court. He used his 6-foot-4 frame to its full extent, blocking 75 shots in his career, which is 14th all-time at Charlotte.

Henry has carved out an impressive pro career overseas and is playing in Spain this season.

JON DAVIS, 2015-19, G

He never played on a winning team at Charlotte, but he helped keep things together during perhaps the toughest stretch in the program’s history (he played for three coaches — Mark Price, Houston Fancher and Sanchez — in his four seasons). Davis finished as Charlotte’s third all-time leading scorer (2,113 points) and is second behind Henry in assists (547). His 551 made free throws is also a program record.

How valuable was he to the 49ers? Davis played 4,253 minutes over his career, more than anyone in program history.

Davis is playing for the Orlando Magic’s G-League team this season.

CHRIS BRASWELL, 2009-13, F

A true back-to-the-basket post player, Braswell averaged 12.0 points and 7.1 rebounds over his career. Braswell was the 49ers’ scoring leader as a junior (15.8 points per game) and senior (11.9) and averaged 7.6 rebounds as a junior in 2011-12.

Braswell’s 868 rebounds trail only Cedric Maxwell, Jarvis Lang, Curtis Withers and DeMarco Johnson on Charlotte’s career list. He also had 101 blocked shots, fifth all-time.‘

Although just a 27.2 percent 3-point shooter over his career, he wasn’t shy to try hoisting them up from deep. He was 28 of 100 in his final two seasons.

BRAXTON OGBUEZE, 2014-17, G

A transfer from Florida who played three seasons at Charlotte, Ogbueze left as one of the more accurate 3-point shooters in program history. His career mark of 41.3 percent is tied for second with James Terrell and behind only Jeff West’s mark of 46.9 from 1985-89.

Ogbueze is also sixth on the all-time list in 3-pointers made (225) — in just three seasons.

JOSEPH UCHEBO, 2015-16, C

Yes, Uchebo played just one season at Charlotte (2015-16), but he averaged a double-double (13.5 points, conference-leading 11.5 rebounds) on a team that went 14-19. He led C-USA in rebounding (and was ninth nationally) and those 11.5 boards per game are fourth highest in program history.

A 6-foot-10 transfer from Pittsburgh, Uchebo had 17 double-doubles and he has two of the top four single-game rebounding performances in program history (21 against Marshall, 20 against Louisiana Tech).

Sixth man

WILLIE CLAYTON, 2012-15, F

Clayton was a rebounding machine for the 49ers before transferring to Georgia State to play his senior season. At 6-8, Clayton had 681 boards (14th all-time) and averaged 7.1 per game (tied for 14th) in his three seasons at Charlotte. Clayton also had had 23 double-figure rebounding games.

And although Clayton was a pretty bad free-throw shooter (46.2 percent), he’s third on the 49ers’ all-time field-goal percentage list (58.1).

Clayton has been playing professionally overseas since leaving Georgia State.

In the team picture

Andrien White paired with Davis for three seasons in Charlotte’s backcourt before he transferred to Wake Forest (where he is playing as a senior this season). White scored 1,059 points during his Charlotte career, 27th on the all-time list.

Javarris Barnett was a reliable long-range shooter. He made 3-pointers in volume (134 in his career from 2008-12) and his shooting percentage from deep (37.2) is 10th all time at Charlotte.

Derrio Green was a sharp shooter. His made 166 3-pointers from 2009-12 and his 79.5 free-throw percentage is one of the best in program history.
