The Charlotte 49ers will play at least two home night games next football season, their first under new lights installed at Richardson Stadium in the spring, and at least 10 of the team’s 11 games will be televised.
Conference USA released its television schedule with game times Monday. Charlotte, in its first season in the Football Bowl Subdivision league, will play six games on the American Sports Network, twice on Fox networks and a game on CBS Sports Network. The 49ers’ season opener at Georgia State on Sept. 4 will be on ESPNU.
Two home games are at 7 p.m. – Florida Atlantic (Sept. 26) and Temple (Friday, Oct. 2) – with game times for two other home games on a Fox network against Texas-San Antonio and Marshall to be announced 12 days before the games.
Television and game-time information for the 49ers’ Conference USA opener at Middle Tennessee (Sept. 19) and at Kentucky (Nov. 21) are also to be announced.

▪ The 49ers and Duke have scheduled a two-game football series in 2020 and 2021, the Observer has confirmed. The 49ers and Blue Devils will play at Duke’s Wade Stadium in 2020 and at Richardson Stadium the following season.
▪ The 49ers have added defensive lineman Desmond Floyd, a fifth-year transfer from Wake Forest. Floyd (6-foot-6, 270 pounds) had 1.5 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss last season for the Deacons. 49ers coach Brad Lambert recruited Floyd to Wake Forest when Lambert was the Deacons’ defensive coordinator.
▪ Charlotte’s men’s soccer team will face seven teams that played in last season’s NCAA tournament , including a season opener Aug. 29 at 2014 national champion Virginia. The 49ers return nine starters from last season’s Conference USA regular-season championship team. This season’s C-USA tournament will be at Charlotte’s Transamerica Field Nov. 11, 13 and 15.
