Wesley Dugger, who became Davidson’s career rushing leader in less than three seasons, announced on Twitter on Monday that he intends to transfer after finishing his Wildcats career in the spring.

Dugger will be a graduate transfer, meaning he’ll be immediately eligible to play wherever he goes. Davidson isn’t playing football this fall due to coronavirus concerns. The Wildcats’ Pioneer Football League said it intends to play in the spring.

Dugger, who graduated in May with a degree in sociology, is using an NCAA waiver that allows an extra year of eligibility for fall athletes, so he’ll be free to play a fifth season at another school in the fall of 2021. Davidson doesn’t have a graduate school.

Dugger has rushed for 3,442 yards, breaking the career mark during his junior season. He had 1,000-plus yards in each of his first three seasons at Davidson.

He also holds Wildcats records in career rushing touchdowns (46), season rushing touchdowns (22), single-game rushing touchdowns (five), single-season yards per carry (6.6), single game-yards per carry (15.4), career scoring (276) and season scoring (132). He has PFL records in career, season and single-game rushing touchdowns.
