UNC, South Carolina to play 2 more football games in Charlotte
North Carolina and South Carolina have agreed to play season-opening football games at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium in 2019 and 2023.
The Charlotte Sports Foundation made that announcement Wednesday, one day before the Tar Heels and Gamecocks play in Charlotte at 6 p.m. Thursday to kick off their seasons.
Exact dates of those games will be determined later, but both games will be played at approximately Labor Day Weekend. This continues a tradition of college football at the Carolina Panthers’ stadium. Thirty-one college games have been played there in the past, including the annual Belk Bowl.
Tennessee and West Virginia are scheduled to play in Charlotte in 2018 to open their seasons.
