In 2022-23, the Charlotte 49ers will play the Big Ten’s Indiana, Maryland in football
The Charlotte 49ers announced they will play a home-and-home football series with Maryland in 2022 and 2023. They also will play road games at Indiana in those seasons.
The games against the Big Ten schools give the 49ers at least one Power Five conference opponent in each of the next 10 seasons, with three of the games scheduled at home.
Charlotte will host Maryland on Sept. 10, 2022 at Richardson Stadium, then travel to College Park, Md., Sept. 9, 2023. The home game will be the 49ers’ second against a Power Five opponent.
The 49ers will play host to Duke, an ACC member, on Sept. 11, 2021. They also will host another ACC school, North Carolina, on Sept. 6, 2025.
The road games at Indiana will be played Oct. 1, 2022 and Sept. 23, 2023.
Charlotte, a member of Conference USA, also completed its 2019 nonconference schedule. The 49ers will open the season at home, Aug. 31, against Gardner-Webb.
