The fifth-seeded Eagles open Big South tournament play Friday afternoon against the fourth-seeded Highlanders in a quarterfinal game. … Winthrop lost both regular-season games against Radford – 85-77 on Jan. 17, 73-66 on Jan. 31 – but the Eagles have won 7 of 9 tournament games against the Highlanders. … Radford posted its second straight 20-win season after going 1-24 in 2011. … The winner faces either top-seeded Charleston Southern or ninth-seeded Longwood in a semifinal game Saturday. The seventh-seeded Bulldogs take on the second-seeded Panthers in the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament Friday evening. … Gardner-Webb lost both of its regular-season games to High Point, 84-72 on Jan. 14 and 83-62 on Feb. 18. … The Bulldogs are in the tournament quarterfinals for the third straight year. … A win would give Gardner-Webb its first 20-win season since 2012, and just the program’s third since it moved to Division I. … The winner plays either third-seeded Coastal Carolina or sixth-seeded UNC Asheville in Saturday’s second semifinal game.
