Charlotte 49ers men get verbal commitment from Oklahoma guard

The Charlotte 49ers picked up their second recruit under new men’s basketball coach Mark Price with a verbal commitment from Curran Scott, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Edmond, Okla.

Jon Davis, a guard from Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy, signed with the 49ers last week.

Scott, who played at Memorial High in Edmond, had offers from several other schools, including Conference USA’s Rice and Texas-El Paso.

Scott’s 634 points as a senior set a school season record. He averaged 21.9 points, shooting 50.4 percent.

▪ Nyilah Jamison-Myers, a 6-3 center-forward, is transferring to Charlotte’s women’s team from Clemson. Jamison-Myers missed most of last season with an injury but had 20 points and 13 rebounds against Ohio State during an early-season game.

The 49ers have requested a waiver from the NCAA so Jamison-Myers, a former star at Orangeburg-Wilkinson (S.C.) High, would have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
