Charlotte 49ers pick up commitment from Winston-Salem guard

The Charlotte 49ers picked up a verbal commitment from one weekend visitor, but missed out on another.

Andrien White, a 6-foot-3 guard from Winston-Salem’s Quality Education Academy, committed to Charlotte and new coach Mark Price on Monday, according to a source.

But Shakir Brown, a forward from Angelina (Tex.) College turned down an offer from Charlotte and committed to James Madison.

White and Brown both visited Charlotte over the weekend.

The addition of White brings to three the number of commitments Price has landed. Guard Jon Davis of Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy has already signed, while guard Curran Scott of Edmond, Okla., is expected to sign this week.

Price must replace six players who either graduated (guards Pierria Henry and Terrence Williams) or are transferring (center Mike Thorne, forward Willie Clayton and guards Keyshawn Woods and Torin Dorn) after last season.
