In Grayson Allen's fourth-grade essay, Georgia beats Duke to win it all

Grayson Allen had the ball but Tonan Ferrell was open with time running short in the third overtime.

Ferrell took the three-pointer and it was nothing but net just before the buzzer.

Duke goes down! Duke goes down! Georgia has won the national championship.

At least, that’s the way Allen imagined it, wrote it.

It was a fourth-grade project and Allen chose to write a fictional essay. He named his “A Season of Comebacks” and it was a basketball tale of how Georgia — the favorite team of his dad, William — kept rallying to win close games and finally won the biggest one of all, the NCAA title game against Duke.

“We win 132-130,” Allen said, smiling.

Allen’s mother, Sherry, had the short book bound and Grayson gave it to William as a Father’s Day present.

But why Duke?

“I guess that was me subconsciously thinking ‘You’re going to Duke one day,’” Allen said.
