Former Davidson guard Luke Frampton has a new college basketball home
Former Davidson guard Luke Frampton, who took a personal leave of absence that lasted most of last season, has transferred to Western Kentucky, the Hilltoppers announced Monday.
Frampton led the Atlantic 10 in 3-point shooting as a redshirt freshman during the 2018-19 season, making 100 for the season and averaging 2.9 per game. He’s the second player in Wildcats history (along with Stephen Curry) to make 100 3-pointers in a season.
Frampton, who sat out his true freshman season with a knee injury, played the first five games of the 2019-20 season before taking a personal leave of absence that lasted the rest of the season. Frampton averaged 9.8 points and made 48.3% of his 3-point shots in the five games he played as a sophomore.
Wildcats coach Bob McKillop said in June that Frampton wouldn’t return to Davidson.
“We liked Luke out of high school a few years ago, and we feel blessed to have this opportunity for him to join our program now,” Western Kentucky coach Rick Stansbury said in a statement. “It’s very obvious he’s a great shooter, but we believe he brings much more than that. He’s a great passer with a high basketball IQ, and he comes from a great high school program in (Poca) West Virginia under Allen Osborne. He had a lot of success at Davidson, and we believe he fills a need for our program – a guy who can make shots and is also a quality person.”
