Davidson freshman KiShawn Pritchett to have minor knee surgery
Davidson freshman guard KiShawn Pritchett will have minor surgery on his left knee Thursday, Wildcats coach Bob McKillop told the Observer.
Pritchett missed most of his senior season at Lake Norman High recovering from a knee injury and the microfracture surgery to correct it. He has been on Davidson’s campus this summer working out with the Wildcats. But after soreness in the knee recurred recently, an arthroscopic procedure was scheduled. McKillop said he expects the 6-foot-6 Pritchett to be for two to three months.
“Some swelling had occurred, and it was something the doctor decided that needed to be cleaned out,” McKillop said. “We expect KiShawn to be back and ready to go when preseason practice begins.”
Pritchett was one of the state’s top players as a junior at Lake Norman, leading the Wildcats to the N.C. 4A championship game.
Wildcats notes
▪ McKillop said former Davidson star De’Mon Brooks has signed to play professionally for Derthona Basket in Tortora, Italy. Brooks, a Hopewell High product who was the Southern Conference’s player of the year in 2012 and ’14, played in Italy and Israel last season.
▪ Wildcats guards Brian Sullivan and Jack Gibbs are playing in a summer league in Columbus, Ohio. Sullivan and Gibbs, who will make up one of the top backcourts in the Atlantic 10 next season, are from the suburbs of Columbus.
