Davidson opens its 27th season under coach Bob McKillop when it hosts the Knights on Saturday night. … Davidson is 12-14 in season openers under McKillop, but the Wildcats are looking to win back-to-back openers for the first time since 2012. … Central Florida finished 12-18 last season and 5-13 in the American Athletic Conference. … The Wildcats are 5-1 all-time against the Knights, and have won the past five meetings.

Queens at Flagler

Flagler Gymnasium, St. Augustine, Fla., 7:30 p.m.

The Royals open their season on the road against the Saints. … Queens finished 17-13 last season and 13-9 in the South Atlantic League, and begins the season ranked No. 7 in the Southeast Region in the D2SIDA media poll. … The Royals will play back-to-back games this weekend as part of the Peach Belt/SAC Challenge. They will face Armstrong State at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Jacksonville at Appalachian State

Holmes Center, Boone, 2 p.m.

The Mountaineers begin their second season under coach Jim Fox, a former Davidson assistant and associate head coach, against the Dolphins. … Appalachian State finished 12-17 in Fox’s first season and tied for sixth in the Sun Belt. … Jacksonville went 10-22 last season and 4-10 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Norfolk State at South Carolina

Colonial Life Arena, Columbia, 7 p.m., SEC Network

The Gamecocks open their season at home Saurday against the Spartans, the first in a pair of games in the Paradise Jam tournament. ... South Carolina return four starters from last season’s 17-16 team. ... Norfolk State returns two starters from last season’s 20-14 team, which finished second in the MEAC.
