Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis, or IUPUI, beat Indiana State 72-70 on the road in its opener and lost at Marquette 75-71 in overtime Monday. The Jaguars, from the Summit League, went 10-21 last season.

Wofford won 28 games a season ago and lost by three points against Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA tournament The Terriers enter the Smith Center after opening the season with a nine-point loss at Missouri. UNC coach Roy Williams undoubtedly will want to see his team play a more complete, clean game than it did Sunday vs. Fairfield, when it was outhustled during the first half.

The Deacons will host the Spiders in their final home game before jetting off to the next week’s Maui Invitational. … Wake Forest beat Bucknell 90-82 Sunday to snap a nine-game road losing streak. … Richmond picked up its first win Sunday, beating Stetson 108-85.

The Golden Bulls cap a three-game stretch on the road to open the season. … Johnson C. Smith got its firs win Saturday, beating Tuskegee 66-59 in the CIAA/SIAC Challenge. … Carson-Newman suffered its first loss that same day, falling to Lander 72-65.
