The Wildcats face another tough nonconference opponent. … California was picked to finish second in the Pac-12, just behind reigning champion Arizona, and enters the game after Tuesday’s 63-62 overtime loss to No. 5 Virginia. … Davidson last played Wednesday, holding off Morehead State 81-77 in its final game of the Gotham Classic series. … Wildcats guard Jack Gibbs scored 41 points in that game, raising his season average to 26.6, fourth-best in the nation.

Middle Georgia State (4-1) at Gardner-Webb (5-8)

Paul Porter Arena, Boiling Springs, N.C., 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs are coming off a seven-day holiday break. … Gardner-Webb last played Dec. 21, falling to Virginia Military 76-75. … Middle Georgia, an NAIA school, hasn’t played since losing to Emmanuel 90-66 in an exhibition Dec. 12.

UNC Greensboro (4-8) at No. 7 North Carolina (10-2)

Smith Center, Chapel Hill, 6 p.m. (ESPNU)

The Tar Heels have won three in a row but have been off for a week. This is UNC’s last game before ACC play will begin Wednesday. The Spartans are coming off a 58-52 loss at N.C. State last week. UNC Greensboro is in the middle of a five-game road stretch.

Elon (9-3) at No. 15 Duke (9-2)

Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, 8 p.m. (ESPNU)

In the aftermath of the 77-75 overtime loss to Utah on Dec. 19, junior captain Matt Jones said Duke’s holiday break was coming at a good time. Grayson Allen comes in averaging 20.1 points for the Blue Devils. The Phoenix will start three players averaing at least 10 points, Tanner Samson (15.8), Luke Eddy (10-4) and Christian Hairston (10).
