Under coach Jim Larrañaga, Miami has proven a tough ACC matchup for Duke. He’s 3-2 against the Blue Devils, and since his arrival before the 2011-12 season, Miami is one of two teams to beat Duke at least three times (Notre Dame has done it four times). Last year’s national championship team was blown out by Miami at home 90-74 and the 2012-13 team, led by Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry, lost 90-63 at Miami. In the return game that season, Ryan Kelly came back from a foot injury, scoring 36 points on 14 shots as the Blue Devils won that top-five matchup 79-76. ... In statistician Ken Pomeroy’s rankings, the Hurricanes are 12th and Duke 18th. Miami is a balanced team, with the 22nd-most efficient offense and 18th-most efficient defense nationally. Duke is powered by its second-ranked offense and ranks 137th nationally in defensive efficiency.

After a four-game slump, Johnson C. Smith has won its past two games, the last over St. Augustine’s 78-76 Wednesday. … After a 2-0 start in CIAA play, Livingstone has lost five of its past six games, including an 84-78 loss at Fayetteville State on Wednesday.
Georgia Southern (6-11, 2-5) at Appalachian State (5-13, 3-4)

After a slow start, Appalachian State has won two straight and three of its past four games, the last a 76-67 Sun Belt victory over Georgia State on Thursday. … Georgia Southern has lost two of its past three games, including a 69-66 overtime loss at Georgia State on Tuesday.
Davidson (11-6, 3-3) at Richmond (10-7, 2-3)
Robins Center, Richmond, Va., 7 p.m.
Davidson has struggled on the road, going 1-5, the last a 96-87 loss Wednesday at Saint Louis. … Richmond has won lost two of its past three Atlantic 10 home games, the last coming Jan. 16 against in-town rival Virginia Commonwealth.
Brevard (2-13, 1-8) at Queens (14-2, 8-2)
Levine Center, 8 p.m.
The ninth-ranked Royals are coming off their second loss in four games. … Queens is third in the South Atlantic standings after a 71-70 loss Wednesday at second-place Wingate. … Brevard has lost its past sevenand last played Jan. 16, losing at Newberry 90-58.
