The pack-line defense makes driving tough, and they have done a much better job closing out on 3-point shooters of late. … Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski gave the latest Amile Jefferson update after Monday’s victory over Louisville. He said to not read into Jefferson wearing a walking boot again – he will do that whenever he’s not on the court to ease stress on his right foot – and that while he is healing well, he is still in pain.

The Deacons’ lone ACC win came Jan. 10, a 77-74 victory over N.C. State. … Since then, the Deacons have lost nine consecutive games, their longest ACC losing streak since dropping 10 in a row to end the 2010-11 season. … N.C. The Bulldogs are sixth in the Big South standings and Coastal Carolina third, but Gardner-Webb is just a game behind and beat the Chanticleers 65-61 on Dec. 31. … Gardner-Webb is coming off an 89-85 overtime loss Thursday at Campbell, snapping a three-game winning streak. … Coastal Carolina lost to High Point 68-67 Thursday, snapping a seven-game winning streak.
