Charlotte 49ers’ Jon Davis, Andrien White named to Conference USA All-Freshman team

Charlotte 49ers guards Jon Davis and Andrien White were named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team after voting by the league’s head coaches and media.

“They have been a big part of our 49ers basketball program this season and their growth as players has been tremendous this year,” Charlotte coach Mark Price said of Davis and White.

“Jon, Andrien and fellow freshman Curran Scott have helped lay a great foundation for our program moving forward.”

Davis is the 25th Charlotte player to record 100 assists in a season. He enters the Conference USA tournament this week with a team-leading 145 assists, the second highest single-season total by a 49ers’ freshman.

Davis is fifth in Conference USA in assists at 4.68 per game.

He was Conference USA Freshman of the Week twice, has 15 double-figure scoring games, four 20-point scoring games and 18 games with at least five assists

White has made 65 3-point field goals, the school’s highest single-season total by a freshman. He is sixth in Conference USA in 3-point field goal percentage at 41.4 percent, and in nine games he made at least three 3-pointers.

White made eight 3-point field goals against Old Dominion (Jan. 2) and Marshall (Jan. 21), tying for the school’s fourth highest single-game totals.

Against Marshall, he scored a career-high 30 points and made his first eight 3-point field goal attempts. White finished 8-for-9 on 3-pointers and grabbed 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.

He was Conference USA Freshman of the Week twice, and enters the tournament with 17 double-figure scoring games, six 20-point scoring games and three double-doubles.
