Jon Axel Gudmundsson, a 6-foot-4 guard from Iceland, has signed with the Davidson Wildcats.

Gudmundsson, who was born in Germany, has experience on several Iceland youth national teams. He also plays for the Grindavik Basketball Club in Iceland’s Super League and averaged 15.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.2 steals in 2015-16.

“Jon Axel’s versatility and competitive toughness will be a terrific addition to our roster,” Davidson coach Bob McKillop said in a statement. “His extensive experience competing as a member of Iceland’s national team will serve him well as he makes the transition to Atlantic 10 basketball.”
