The Charlotte 49ers will play Maryland on Dec. 20 in a men’s basketball game at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore.

“We are excited and look forward to playing Maryland, who played in the Sweet 16 last season in Baltimore,” said Charlotte coach Mark Price. “We look forward to the challenge.”

Maryland is 10-2 all-time in games played in Baltimore and is 3-0 against Charlotte. The teams last played in January 2009 in College Park, Md., with Maryland winning 85-75.

Last season, Charlotte was 14-19 and 9-9 in Conference USA in Price’s first year as the 49ers’ coach. Maryland was 27-9 and 12-6 in the Big Ten Conference.

The remainder of Charlotte’s nonconference schedule will be released this summer.
